LOS BARRILES FISHING REPORT 4/11/2021

Los Barriles Fishing
Barred Pargo

Los Barriles fishing report is brought to you by OKUMA FISHING USA. Fishing has been great the past few weeks. First off the water is still 84-88 degree water. Nice and blue just off the beach. Air temp has finally changed and now in the high 80’s every day with moderate humidity.

CONDITIONS

First off the water temps are currently 70-73° and warming every day. Air temps are in the low 80’s which will help the water temps increase rapidly. We are still transitioning from our windy season but, overall we are seeing more calm days than windy days. With a calm and warm week predicted, look for Los Barriles fishing to pick up.

BAIT

Ballyhoo is available in front of Palmas de Cortez Hotel and the sardinas are available to the North.

ROOSTERS

The roosters have still not arrived in numbers. There have been a few taken on the fly.

DORADO

The dorado have also not shown in huge numbers yet. A few fish being caught every day. If you are planning to fish the dorado shootout, please let me know asap in order to look for another boat for you. The hotel boats are almost completely booked.

MARLIN

The marlin bite is starting to kick up. Usually the marlin and tuna are the first to the party. With calm weather predicted for this week, look for the marlin bite to take off.

TUNA

The tuna should be here any week now.  There have been some reports of fish down south. Hopefully they will be in range in the upcoming week or two.

WAHOO

Not too many wahoo being taken in the last couple of weeks.

RESERVATIONS

We are taking reservations almost every day now. If you are planning to visit and fish the East Cape this year…whether with us or another charter, you should make your reservations as soon as possible. We are anticipating a very busy schedule this summer.

Finally, the wahoo are still around. Just not a lot of people targeting them with the hot tuna and dorado bite. You don’t have to go very far to find a bite.

Fishing Report for Los Barriles Sept 29, 2019

New Lures from Fish Lab Tackle!

Fishing report for the entire East Cape.

WATER

Fist, the water is great. 83-85, clean and blue off the beach, a little green on the beach.

BAIT

Sardinas are in La Ribera right now or Punta Colorado They are nice quality for this time of year. Ballyhoo are also available and right in front of the Palmas de Cortez hotel.

TUNA

El Rincon is where the tuna have been found recently. However, there have been tons of Skip Jack in the mix. It’s been a little hard to get the bait past the skippys.

DORADO

The dorado are still not very thick yet. A few bulls and a some decent size fish are showing up on the banks, but the numbers are just not here yet. Last year, they were here in numbers by now and stayed here through Feb. Let’s hope they get the memo and join the party.

ROOSTERS

The rooster bite is still pretty good despite the dirty water on the beach. I haven’t seen many larger models in a couple of weeks but that doesn’t mean they are not here. The problem is most anglers are choosing to fish the tuna so rooster reports are scarce.

BILL FISH

The bill fish bite has been good and steady. If you choose to fish marlin, there’s a good chance you’ll release a few fish.

WAHOO

Wahoo are another fish that anglers are just not targeting much this year. There have been a few reports of wahoo being caught.

So there is your Los Barriles Fishing Report. Fishing can be really good or it can be better than being at work, if you know what I mean.
