East Cape Fish Report October 22nd – 28th

East Cape fish & bait report  October 22nd – 28th

BAIT – (basically the same situation as last week) The bait supply was okay. Boats fishing live sardina are traveling sometimes to Cardonal and sometimes almost to the island and south around La Fortuna. There is still frozen squid supplied by Palmas de Cortez and East Cape Tackle. In addition to the sardina and squid, there are some caballito along with ballyhoo available.

WATER – The water temps were between 83 and 85 and the water color is clean and blue.  The North winds subsided a little and gave anglers the opportunity to get some fishing in.

TUNA – The tuna bite was good. Fish are between 12 – 76lbs. Congrats to Victor Locklin who took home 1st place with his 76lb tuna in last weeks Tuna Shootout at Palmas de Cortez. There was a 305lb tuna that unfortunately hit the scales 1 hour late and was disqualified.

DORADO – A good amount of dorado are still around and willing to eat if you know where to look.

ROOSTER – The rooster bite has slowed and only a few were caught, mostly the smaller fun size. However, you just never know down here in the East Cape.

BILL FISH – The bill fish bite has been picking up 15-20miles off the beach.  Reports coming in that state stripers are willing to play. Not too many blues and blacks.

WAHOO – A few wahoo are still around as well and willing to bite.  A hand full of wahoo are coming in each day for the anglers willing to target them.
