Los Barriles Fishing Report for June 17th – 23rd

WATER

Fist off, the water is really cleaning up and warming. I thought it would take a few days after that last wind stopped to clean up and sure enough, I got one right. The water around the ocho ocho was near 89˚ and clean this week.

BAIT

Sardinas are still up near the island. At least they are nice quality and plentiful. Ballyhoo are also available and right in front of the Palmas de Cortez hotel.

TUNA

Before the winds, the tuna bite was fantastic… the wind really slowed things down. This past week the tuna were literally chewing the gel coat off the boat. Easy limits every day this week for most boats.

DORADO

The dorado are still not very thick yet. A few bulls and a some decent size fish are showing up on the banks, but the numbers are just not here yet.

ROOSTERS

The roosters are here and willing to play. We had a great day of rooster fishing yesterday. We released 8 fish from 7lbs to 35lbs.

BILL FISH

The bill fish bite is still really strong. Captain Carlos put angler Dan Estes on a couple of nice marlin this week with the biggest stripper going close to 125lbs. Nice fish Dan.

WAHOO

There were no reports of wahoo again this week. With how good the tuna bite is, nobody is looking for them.

So there is your Los Barriles Fishing Report for this past week. Fishing is really good right now and only getting better. If you are considering booking a trip for August, please do not wait to book. We have had to turn away several clients in June that waited too long to book trips with Captain Carlos.

Lastly, if anyone is in the market for chartering a super cruiser, please take a look at my buddy Matt’s 35′ Cabo. She’s all set up and ready to go. Great crew and gear. Check out the El Regalo
