Los Barriles Fishing Report 4/1 – 4/14

Blue Marlin
814 Blue Marlin landed by Pisces Sportfishing in Cabo San Lucas. This is a great sign of things to come for the East Cape this year.

WATER

I’ve received several phone calls lately regarding how Los Barriles fishing is. To be honest, there hasn’t been very many fisherman on the water in the past two weeks. Therefore, we don’t really have a great pulse on how the fishing is. We are back on the water next week, so we’ll know then.

Fist off, our water temps are right around 72-75. They are on the rise and hopefully they’ll be in the high 70’s next week.

BAIT

Secondly, the pangueros still have not started to work for sardina’s yet. Currently we have live ballyhoo and mackerel available. Hopefully this week they will begin to make some sardinas.

TUNA

The tuna are making a slow showing. Reports are coming in that they are about 50mi off under dolphins.

DORADO

We know they’re out there but there’s a lack of fisherman in the East Cape the last two weeks.

ROOSTERS

Are making a showing now. If we are able to make some sardinas, the numbers will show just how many have moved in.

BILL FISH

The bill fish bite has been mostly out of San Jose and Cabo. That 814lb monster blue is a good sign of things to come this season.

WAHOO

No reports of wahoo this week. Captain Carlos did see a couple last week but they weren’t interested in eating.

YELLOWTAIL

The yellowtail bite is one of chance for local anglers fishing live bait on the bottom. But, there were a few more caught last week locally.

SIERRA

Sierra’s are around and we found some willing to bite. They are a decent grade as well.

Lastly, if anyone is in the market for chartering a super cruiser, please take a look at my buddy Matt’s 35′ Cabo. She’s all set up and ready to go. Great crew and gear. Check out the El Regalo
