East Cape

BAIT – (basically the same situation as last week) The bait supply is okay. Boats fishing live sardina are traveling sometimes to Cardonal and sometimes almost to the island and south around La Fortuna. There is still frozen squid supplied by Palmas de Cortez and East Cape Tackle. In addition to the sardina and squid, there are some caballito along with ballyhoo available.

WATER – The water temps are still averaging 83/84 and the water color is clean and blue.  Once again the North winds subsided a little and gave anglers the opportunity to get some fishing in. This week is shaping up to be another good week as well.

TUNA – The tuna bite is still good. Fish are between 12 – 30 pounds and feeding on both squid and live bait.

DORADO – There is a good amount of dorado are still around and willing to eat if you know where to look. The dorado are feeding on both squid and sardina.

ROOSTER – Anglers willing to target roosters can still find them.

BILL FISH – The bill fish bite was good agin this week.  Anglers are still catching mostly stripers . Not too black marlin around but there were a few blues hooked this past week.

WAHOO – A few wahoo are still around as well and willing to bite.  A hand full of wahoo are coming in each day for the anglers willing to target them.

SIERRA – A few sierras were caught last week down near the La Ribera marina.

YELLOWTAIL  – A few yellowtail showed up last week. The fish were in the 25lb range. Hopefully more will show up before the winds really kick in.
