Los Barriles fishing report is brought to you by OKUMA FISHING USA. Fishing has been great the past few weeks. First off the water is currently 84-88 degree water. Nice and blue just off the beach. Air temp has been in the low 90’s with moderate humidity. Actually pretty nice for September.

BAIT

Ballyhoo is available in front of Palmas de Cortez Hotel and the sardinas are available to the North. Pretty much been the same program since the beginning of the season. There are some very small sardinas in the La Ribera marina.

ROOSTERS

Next, the Pez Gallo (rooster fish) bite is still good. Some larger fish showed up. I’m not sure if it was the lack of pressure or what, but some nice fish were caught last week. Fishing is good both down South and to the North.

DORADO

The dorado have been biting well. Lots of fish around right now. There were a few larger fish caught last week near the shark buoys using live bait.

MARLIN

The marlin bite continues to be go good right now. Several fish per boat is common.

TUNA

The tuna bite has been on fire the last few weeks. Most fish are between 15-60lbs and are chewing the cedar plug and hoochies. Fish are being caught inside and outside under porpoise. Some of the larger models showed up near el Rincon and live sardinas and chunked squid were the hot bait.

WAHOO

Finally, the wahoo bite is still very strong if you choose to target them. You don’t have to go very far to find a bite.

To sum it up, the fishing has been really good over the past couple of weeks. The air temp is about to drop back down and now is a great time to plan a trip to Los Barriles. Please visit us again for your Los Barriles fishing report.
